Sharjah 24: Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Hammadi, Official in the Preaching Department at the Central Region Office of the Sharjah Department of Islamic Affairs, confirmed that the tenth day of Muharram “Ashura” is one of the great days in Islam, in which Muslims fast to expiate the sins of the past year.
He stated that the month of Muharram is one of the sacred months that God singled out and mentioned it in the Holy Quran.

He indicated in statements to "Sharjah 24" that on the day of Ashura, it is desirable to fast, as the Prophet, Peace Be Upon Him, sought to fast, and it is appropriate for a Muslim to follow the guidance of the Prophet and fast on this day.
