SSEF provides social welfare for orphans

Sharjah 24: Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation (SSEF) puts at the top of its interests the the social welfare of its members, and provides care for all orphans within their extended families in the Emirate of Sharjah, and the central and eastern regions, to empower orphans and their guardians.
Mona bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Foundation, stated that the Foundation pursues constructive plans to care for orphan families to ensure a supportive environment and a cohesive family for a happy, advanced, and prosperous society to achieve social welfare and prosperity, embodying the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi - Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah to build effective frameworks in empowering people on the land of the smiling Emirate, and based on the generous patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, and the wise directives of Her Excellency Sheikha Jamila bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, President of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services. 

Mona bin Hadda Al Suwaidi added that the Foundation was founded on comprehensive strategies and goals based on empowering orphans in different fields.  Al Suwaidi stated that the Foundation translates its work through vital programmes and projects that have been set for ambitious goals, and established an approach and a vision to enhance the leadership empowering orphans and their families, dedicating efforts to achieve better care and ensure comprehensive stability for them.  

Al Suwaidi confirmed that the Foundation devoted its projects to providing comprehensive care for orphans, and ensuring a decent and a prosperous life for them by enabling them to rely on themselves educationally, economically, professionally, psychologically, socially and environmentally. Al Suwaidi added that the Foundation strives to preserve the dignity of the orphan and provide psychological and material satisfaction, through qualitative services and programmes based on inspiration, creativity and knowledge.

The programmes and projects offered by SSEF aim to achieve persistent goals in accordance with its strategic plans and the development of its members in the different aspects of empowerment, as the Foundation has worked to implement many specialised programmes.

The Foundation continued the academic care system, as the academic project “Allama Bil Qalam” (taught with a pen) realised its desired goal supporting students by providing them with educational support.

SSEF Psychological empowerment programmes aim to ensure the sound mental health of orphans, and help them overcome crises and negative consequences that may be caused by the loss of a parent.

The Foundation offers several psychological programmes that aim to help orphans overcome the trauma of losing a parent, such as “Takhata” programme, which focuses on paying attention to mental health and protecting children from the negative effects that may occur as a result of loss, and building a balanced personality capable of dealing with new situations and managing them with specialised educational and social methods.

A number panel discussions and practical workshops are also organised for newly-affiliated mothers of orphans within the “Rawaa” programme, with the aim of properly containing and venting the orphan educators, providing them with psychological support, training them to adapt to the new life, and providing them with skills that raise their self-confidence.

SSEF did not overlook the importance of building the social personality of orphans, so it was keen to enhance and develop their social skills, and to achieve better integration with society.

The social empowerment programmes implemented by the Foundation play an important role in developing the personal and social aspects of orphans, contributing to creating a supportive environment for them, and enhancing their positive participation.

As part of the series of recent projects the youth project "Sanad Albeat" (Home Support), was launched to create leadership skills and balanced personality building qualified individuals to take responsible role at home.

SSEF provided a great opportunity through career empowerment programmes, for orphans to achieve financial independence and ensure a stable source of income, by improving their behavioural capabilities in the career path, and contributing to putting their professional fingerprints in practical workshops, based on the Foundation's belief in the importance of developing the creative and practical side in line with preparing them to instill innovative professional skills towards financial independence, such as training and career development programmes.

Health empowerment programmes have also attached great importance to ensure health care for orphans and guardians, raise their awareness and educate them in health, in an effort to empower them in the health aspect, address their health needs, and accustom them to a healthy lifestyle.

Health empowerment services include providing assistance in the health aspect, such as paying treatment fees, surgical fees, purchasing medicines, providing medical supplies, in addition to issuing and renewing health insurance. The Foundation also offers awareness programmes, courses and workshops throughout the year to raise health cultural awareness.

Based on SSED experience and field visits, the Foundation implements environmental empowerment programmes with the aim of carrying out the necessary maintenance work for orphan homes, to provide them with a suitable environment, providing psychological stability for the family.

SSEF management adopts long-term strategic plans through which it aims to achieve empowerment in its different fields, educate and prepare members to take responsibility in the family after the absence of the father.
