The events are held under the auspices of the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC), from July 10 to August 3, 2023 for males and females. The activities include different sports, cultural, artistic and social programmes, courses and trips in the largest youth event.
The inauguration held at the headquarters of the Mleiha Club, was attended by His Excellency Mohammed Sultan Al Khasouni, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mleiha Club; members of SSC; Rashid Mohammed Al Ketbi, Member of the Board of Directors of Mleiha Club; Mansour Rashid Bal Ajeed, Chairman of the Youth Sustainability Council in Mleiha club; in addition to Awad Saeed Hareb Al Ketbi, Director of the Support Services Department in Mleiha Municipality; and a number of parents of students enrolled in the summer activity.
The current activity attracts a large number of young people from different age groups, whereas the activities include different courses and workshops, visits, memorisation of the Holy Qur’an, and sports activities.
Musabeh Saif Awad Al Ketbi, Director of Mleiha Municipality, and the audience took a tour to shed light on the club's activities during the four weeks, which include “Sustainability”, “Here’s Sharjah”, “National Identity”, and “I am an athlete”.
During the inauguration, a workshop on Emirati crafts, customs and traditions that was held on the sidelines of the opening of the summer activity was visited. In addition to workshops on sustainable advice for boys and girls, sports activities, which included football, taekwondo and volleyball, were held.
Musabeh Saif Awad Al Ketbi, Director of Mleiha Municipality, expressed his happiness at the opening of the summer activity, stressing that it represents a professional leap in the programmes offered, and extended his appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah for his continuous support to the summer programmes’ activities.
Al Ketbi stressed that the success of any work necessarily requires concerted efforts, positive cooperation, and a sincere desire to urge young people to participate in useful programmes and events.
