Sharjah 24: In a collaborative effort involving the Muwaileh Suburb Council, the University City, and the Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority, an initiative was implemented under the theme "Be Their Shade."
This comprehensive programme aims to restrict work activities under the direct sun and in exposed areas from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM until September 15th. The primary objective is to safeguard the well-being of workers and prevent heat-related exhaustion.
Representatives from these organisations have undertaken the responsibility of educating workers about the risks associated with sun exposure and the importance of adhering to the midday work ban. This highlights the UAE's unwavering commitment to human-centric standards in the workplace and the adoption of global best practices in health and occupational safety.
Furthermore, the initiative has extended its reach to various construction sites, where workshops have been conducted to enhance workers' awareness of the ban's significance and its positive impact on the work environment and overall productivity. This ban, which has been in effect for 19 consecutive years in the UAE, stands as a noteworthy achievement in the labour sector, reinforcing the UAE's position as a leading and competitive player in the job market.
