Sharjah24: The Sharjah Camel Racing Club, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, held a remarkable event featuring the Fatameen (Weanling) Camel Race on Sunday, June 18. The race took place at the Al Dhaid Racecourse and witnessed intense competition among the finest camel racers in the region.
The Fatameen race, consisting of 20 exhilarating rounds covering a distance of 1500 meters, captivated both participants and spectators. Organised and supervised by the Sharjah Camel Racing Club, the event showcased the deep-rooted tradition of camel racing and celebrated the exceptional skills of the tribes' camel owners.

Ali Rashid Hamoud Al Katbi emerged victorious in the thrilling first round, guiding his camel, "Al Shahinia," to a remarkable time of 2:13:97. The second round witnessed an impressive performance by Hamad Hamoud Hamad Al Katbi, who claimed victory with his camel, "Makhol," finishing in 2:14:54. The third round saw Ali Rashid Hamoud Al Katbi's second triumph, this time with his camel named "Khair."

The Open Rounds showcased the fierce competition among participants. Mani Ali Hamidi Al Katbi secured a memorable win in the 13th round, guiding "Al Shahinia" to an impressive time of 2:13:86. Ubaid Ali Sulaim Al Janibi showcased exceptional skills in the 14th round, guiding his camel, "Barzan," to victory with a time of 2:10:10. Abdullah Salm Al Khasouni excelled in the 15th round, leading his camel, "Al Shahinia," to a commendable time of 2:12:17.

In the Challenging Rounds, Abdulaziz Saeed Mohammed Al Qayedi secured a memorable victory in the 17th round, guiding his camel, "Al Thabi," to a remarkable time of 2:11:76. Saied Rashid bin Daghish Al Kutbi showcased exceptional skills in the 18th round, leading his camel, "Al Mahiyat," to victory with a time of 2:14:54. In the 19th round, Saied Rashid bin Daghish Al Katbi celebrated another win, this time with his camel, "Al Shahinia," clocking in at 2:15:14.

On another note, the Fatameen Camel Race took place yesterday morning, Saturday, June 17, at Al Rashidiya Racecourse in Al Batayeh area. The competition included four rounds for weanling camels owned by tribes, covering a distance of 1500 meters. The results of the race are as follows:

In the first round, "Al Shahinia," owned by Saeed Abdullah bin Shamil Al Katbi, achieved a time of 2:42:45.
The second round saw an outstanding performance by "Hamloul," owned by Mohammed Abdullah bin Shamil Al Katbi, with a time of 2:39:20 (best time).
"Hamloula," also owned by Mohammed Abdullah bin Shamil Al Kutbi, secured victory in the third round with a time of 2:43:2.

Matar Ali bin Howaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Sharjah Camel Racing Club, emphasised the significant role played by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in sponsoring the camel races organised by the club throughout the year. This sponsorship has increased the interest of camel owners in these races in general and specifically in the weanling camel race, which witnesses great participation from camel owners across the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
