Sharjah24: Sheikh Khalid bin Issam bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Civil Aviation Department, inaugurated the Sharjah Padel Tennis Championship under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. Several department heads and government representatives from the Emirate of Sharjah attended the event, which took place in the WPA Courts in Sharjah's Al Rahmaniya district.
The event involves 272 players from 136 teams across three different categories. The contestants will fight for a total prize pool of AED 165,000, plus AED 65,000 allocated to the tournament's audience in the entertainment parts.
Issa Hilal Al Hazami, President of the Sharjah Sports Council, commended the newly inaugurated WPA Courts, which coincided with the Sharjah Padel Tennis Championship, in exclusive remarks to Sharjah 24. He emphasised the true breakthrough in padel tennis, watching the emirate's youth enthusiastically participate in the sport and invest in top-tier sporting facilities.
Al Hazami acknowledged that the Sharjah Sports Council will contribute to the organisation of sports competitions at the local and international levels in the near future, especially given the availability of integrated and equipped facilities to host all sporting events.
Finally, he extended his gratitude and admiration to Sharjah Sports Channel for organising this competition, emphasising the importance of collaboration between public and commercial organisations.
