Sharjah24: Sheikha Nawar bint Ahmed Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah Art Foundation, inaugurated the "First Taqueen Exhibition" on May 29, 2023. The three-day exhibition at the 1020 Centre, hosted by the Masarat Centre for Development and Empowerment, will include the work of disabled artisans from the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) Centre.
Sheikha Nawar, who visited the show, praised the objects on display and commended SCHS for its work on behalf of people with disabilities. She hailed SCHS for its commitment to nurturing students' individual development, identifying their unique talents, and motivating them to work hard and create something new. The centre's purpose is to provide training and education in accordance with best worldwide practises.
Sheikha Nawar emphasised the need for community involvement and organisations collaborating with SCHS to support their services. The creation of product exhibition venues and the extension of communication connections were both encouraged.
Visitors to the exhibition will be able to see SCHS's efforts in training people with disabilities, increasing their skills, supporting their integration, and providing employment opportunities to improve independence and self-confidence.
The Masarat Centre for Development and Empowerment's administration lauded the exhibition's items for their outstanding quality, variety, and competitiveness. The centre invites people to visit the exhibition, do their part for society by purchasing and supporting the aforementioned products, and learn more about the exhibition's importance in stimulating conversation and long-term progress.
The event serves as a place for participants to exchange ideas and learn from one another. The importance of inclusion, economic and social empowerment, and public knowledge of the skills of people with disabilities is underlined.
Participants with disabilities provide public tours of the exhibition, shed light on the products on display, illustrate how they are manufactured, and sell their handmade creations.
The centre’s employees gave Sheikha Nawar Al Qasimi a handmade souvenir, which she warmly accepted.
The Masarat Centre for Development and Empowerment presented an award to the 1020 Centre in gratitude of their support of the first Taqueen exhibition and their willingness to continue working with them in the future.
