Sharjah 24: Emirates Publishers Association participated in the 14th edition of Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF), organised by Sharjah Book Authority under the theme “Train Your Brain”, from the 3 to 14 May, at the Expo Centre Sharjah.
Through its pioneering project “Manassah” (Platform), the association hosts 29 member publishers to launch 430 children's and young adult literature books, at the same time to provide Emirati writers with a huge platform to promote their publications and market the largest possible number of Emirati literature intended for future generations.
Publishing houses participating in the platform display a total of 10700 books from different creative, pedagogical and educational fields that meet the interests of children, nourish their minds, contribute to developing their practical skills and expanding their knowledge, in line with one of the strategic pillars of the association, which is instilling the love of reading in the hearts and minds of young generations.
Rashid Al Kous, Executive Director of the Emirates Publishers Association, said that enlightening young minds with knowledge is one of the associations’ goals, which can only be achieved through reading.
Al Kous added that reading is the basis for building creative and innovative minds. He went on saying that the association’s participation in the festival aims to contribute to the prosperity of the publishers' businesses, and to support the publishing sector in the UAE in general, whereas SCRF is an innovative platform to promote the culture of reading among children and contribute to improving the level of the children's book industry in the UAE and the region.
He concluded that SCRF is considered one of the largest children’s book fairs in the region, and thanks to the unique interactive, educational and entertainment experience it provides, it attracts a large number of visitors every year, which constitutes a valuable opportunity for the association’s participating publishers to market their publications on a larger scale and achieve the maximum possible benefit.
The Emirates Publishers Association’s participation in the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival also includes holding reading sessions that encourage children to read and nourish their imaginations, as young people and adolescents are waiting for two exciting story-telling sessions that the association will hold in cooperation with the publishers.
