Sharjah 24: Last Friday, a pleasure boat capsized on a beach in the Eastern Region, killing one person and necessitating the aid of Sharjah Police (SP) specialised teams and the leadership of the Coast Guard Group "First Squadron" to rescue sixteen others.
Colonel Dr Ali Al Kay Al Hamoudi, Director of the Eastern Region Police Department, stated that all specialised teams, including rescue teams, the national ambulance, and police patrols, worked in coordination and cooperation with the leadership of the Coast Guard Group "First Squadron" to respond to the accident as soon as it was reported.
They rushed to the site of the disaster and rescued the boat's passengers; four people were hurt, including a child. One of those sent to the hospital was a 38-year-old Asian national, but he died there. The police conducted preliminary investigations and discovered that there were breaches of law that resulted in the boat capsizing and the persons involved have been reported to the proper authorities.
To protect tourists' safety, the Director of the Eastern Region Police Department asked pleasure boat operators to follow safety standards, drive carefully, and maintain passenger counts within legal limits, with the additional requirement that all passengers wear life jackets.
