Sharjah 24: The healthy seabird release event, which falls under the initiatives of the Sharjah Strandings Response Programme, was launched, as 158 birds of various species were released, in the presence of Sheikh Majid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Member of the Sharjah Executive Council, Head of the Sharjah Districts and Villages Affairs Department, and a number of officials, on Al Heera Beach.
Abdulaziz Salem Al Suwaidi, Director of the Marine Sustainability Department at the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah, stated that the Sharjah Strandings Response Programme works to rehabilitate animals that need health care and release them again.

He confirmed in exclusive statements to "Sharjah 24" that the programme goes through several stages. In the beginning, when an infected animal is seen, community members report its presence, and then the specialised team catch it to be treated and provide all its needs and ensure its healthy to return to the wild.
He noted that community members, in the event that they see a case and need assistance, should contact the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah and inform them of the details.
