Sharjah 24: The activities of the Sharjah Heritage Days were launched in the city of Kalba, in the presence of Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Chief of the Ruler's Office in Kalba. Held in the Al Hosn Heritage neighbourhood, the activities run from 4 to 11 March.
Saqr Mohammed Ahmed, Director of the International Organisations Centre at the Sharjah Institute for Heritage and Chairman of the Committee for the openings of Sharjah Heritage Days activities in the Central, Eastern and Al Hamriyah regions, stated that the Al Hosn Heritage neighbourhood is a group of old houses that have been fully restored and equipped to receive visitors and heritage events in the city.
Speaking exclusively to “Sharjah 24”, Saqr Mohammed Ahmed confirmed that the Sharjah Heritage Village includes several events and activities, including agricultural and marine crafts, as well as government agencies’ display of old holdings, such as the Al Mahatta Aircraft Station in Kalba, established in 1937, and is now used for emergencies.
He added that folk bands and the Bulgarian band participated in the activities of the SHD. Popular performances and folk dances were presented with the participation of school children.
