On this occasion, His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, UOS Chancellor, congratulated His Highness, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of UOS, stressing that this international achievement was accomplished with the continuous support and care of His Highness. Al Naimiy also indicated that the report issued by the specialized committee of ACPE accrediting agency reflects the high level of academic qualifications and the practical skills that the graduates will acquires, which prepare them to be qualified pharmacists in the healthcare system, and achieve the vision and strategy of the UAE in education and learning, pointing out that CoP is keen to spread medication awareness at the state level, while highlighting the importance of focusing on the manufacture of medicine in the pharmaceutical education.
For his part, Prof. Karim El-Zu'bi, Dean of CoP, praised the college's international achievement, which reflects the concerted efforts between the university administration and faculty members, stressing that the CoP provides practical training for its students to work in hospitals and pharmacies, prepare and qualify them to provide the pharmaceutical care and medication at the highest standards.
ACPE is recognized by the US Department on Education as the national agency for the accreditation of professional degree programs in pharmacy and providers of continuing pharmacy education internationally. ACPE’s mission is to assure the quality of pharmacy education and support the advancement of the pharmacy profession, to improve patient care through safe and effective medication use.
Dr. Nadia Rashed Al Mazrouei, Assistant Professor,CoP, stressed that excellence and accomplishments achieved by the College of Pharmacy and obtaining the international accreditation from the (ACPE) is a culmination for its continuous efforts for about 12 years since attaining local accreditation, enrolling students, conducting annual and semi-annual reassessments up to graduation of the first batch while assessing their performance. She also pointed out that the international accreditation intensifies the elevation of the scientific and academic position of the college to its counterparts internationally. Dr. Nadia has also expressed her pride in having graduates from all around the world and students with scholarships enrolling into CoP, in which they will return to their home country and contribute to the medical advancement and improved health outcomes.
Dr. Mohammad Ali Alqudah, Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and Coordinator of the PharmD Program, stated that the CoP is the first pharmacy college in the UAE to obtain the International accreditation by ACPE for the Post-Bachelor Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program, pointing out that this success comes as a result of the continuous efforts of the academic and administrative staff to achieve the highest quality standards of clinical pharmaceutical education and clinical service for patients. While Dr. Hamzah Alzubaidi, Assistant Dean for Postgraduate Studies, indicated that receiving ACPE from USA accreditation association guarantee the quality of education and scientific research. He explained that the accreditation provides an opportunity to review and develop the teaching curricula and educational outcomes.
