Sharjah 24: On the sidelines of the 22nd Sharjah International Conservation Forum for Arabia’s Biodiversity (SICFAB), Dr. Helen Senn, Head of the Conservation and Science Programmes at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, expressed her delight in participating in SICFAB, which is being held under the theme “Conservation of Genetic Diversity”.
The Head of the Conservation and Science Programmes at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland stated that the theme of SICFAB is being studied due to the fact that conventional biological diversity recognise three pillars of biodiversity, ecosystem, species and genes.
She added that for the first time in 2022 at COP15 the importance of genetic diversity in wild animals was reconigsed, highlighting that this year’s SICFAB, which brings together experts from all across the Arabian region, work to understand best how to conserve the genetic diversity in the threatened animal and plant species of the Arabian peninsula.
