Sharjah 24: The Friends for Diabetes, one of the health-supporting associations in the Health Promotion Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, announced the launch of its annual awareness programme "Superhero."
The programme is in cooperation with the Emirates Schools Establishment, the Sharjah Education Council, and the Sharjah Private Education Authority.
The programme, which will be held in public and private schools in the Emirate of Sharjah over a period of 6 months, from January 11 to June 2023, aims to educate students, parents, and the administrative and teaching staff on ways to prevent and coexist with diabetes, and to highlight the right of a diabetic child to lead a normal life like everyone else.
This came during a press conference held by the association in the theatre of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah.
Her Excellency Khawla Al Hajj, Head of the Friends for Diabetes, Aisha Al Seiri, Director of the Student Care and Protection Department at the Emirates Schools Establishment, Taher Al Mahrezi, Director of the Educational Operations Department at Sharjah Private Education Authority, Banan Ali Al Shehhi, junior medical technician at the Sharjah Education Council, as well as representatives of a number of government institutions in Sharjah, attended the event.
Her Excellency Khawla Al Hajj confirmed that the launch of the "Superhero" programme comes within the framework of the association's keenness to intensify its efforts to raise awareness among members of society, urging them to follow a healthy lifestyle that guarantees them prevention of diabetes.
She thanked all supporters and partners for their great efforts and continuous cooperation in launching campaigns and programmes with the aim of helping diabetics and their families to ensure a better healthy future for them.
For her part, Aisha Al Seiri emphasised that the programme is a qualitative awareness initiative that translates the constructive strategic partnership between the Friends for Diabetes and the Emirates Schools Establishment, praising the importance of this humanitarian programme, which comes in line with the interest of the country and the wise leadership in providing a healthy and safe environment.
