Sharjah 24: His Excellency Dr. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah (UOS), stated that the "Sharjah Sat 1" project was designed and manufactured entirely by Emirati youth at the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology, in cooperation with an international university.
It was launched, on Tuesday, on the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.

His Excellency revealed that data will be received from the "Sharjah Sat 1" satellite by approximately January 10, after it stabilises and then prepares itself to transmit important information to Earth.

His Excellency added, in statements to "Sharjah 24", that the academy have a station to receive data, which is expected to receive data for a period of at least 3 years, indicating that this national project succeeded thanks to the support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and follow-up from Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah.

His Excellency pointed out that there is a number of young Emirati engineers from Sharjah to manufacture a number of satellites in the future, as there is a manufacturing research environment and laboratories necessary for that, highlighting that work is underway on the "Sharjah Sat 2" satellite and it is expected to be ready for another launch end of this year or the beginning of next year.
