Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Press Club (SPC) of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau won the tenth edition of Kuwait Creativity Award, which was recently held in Kuwait, for the initiative of the annual training programme "Ithmar", which targets students from 10 to 17 years old, to consolidate media awareness among the younger generation and introduce them to the concepts of journalistic work and the media.
The award, which is organised by the Arab Media Forum Authority, the Kuwait Society for Media and Communication and a number of other parties, comes as part of a special tribute to the SPC, for the importance of the "Ithmar" programme and its distinguished contribution to building a media generation through an interactive approach that mixes training and knowledge with pleasure, and in appreciation of the excellence of the initiative and its positive impact and tangible repercussions on new generations.

The "Ithmar" programme was launched in 2019, in line with the approach of the Emirate of Sharjah emanating from the thoughts and visions of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the great attention His Highness attaches to building children and youth in various fields and sectors.

The Kuwait Creativity Award, which received, in its 10th edition, about 1081 participants from various Arab countries, supports the club’s visions of promoting and spreading media culture among young people, developing their media talents and motivating them to practice journalistic work, in a way that contributes to building media competencies capable of leading media work in the future according to the visions and directions the United Arab Emirates. 

The annual programme aims to qualify its participants in the media sector and content industry and enhance their knowledge in a scientific manner that combines the theoretical and practical aspects, with field visits to media institutions that give them the opportunity to be acquainted with the details and progress of media work.

Over the course of its past four editions, the programme has received 240 applications, and 89 students have been graduated from it so far. The programme was keen to continue to support its participants and provide them with the opportunity to practically apply the media skills that were provided to them by covering various activities and events.

Ithmaar is keen, by hosting experienced and competent trainers from media personalities, to deliver information in a simple and effective way that benefits the participants, who benefit from exceptional membership in the Sharjah Press Club, in addition to training certificates.

The Sharjah Press Club works to serve the press and media sector and its employees, by organising many targeted specialised events and programmes throughout the year, while ensuring constructive cooperation with the leading agencies in the sector.
