Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Press Club (SPC) of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) organised a competition among graduates of the previous editions of the "Ithmar" programme, which was launched by the club in 2019 to train children and young people from 10 to 17 years of age on media skills in its various forms.
More than 20 graduate students from the programme participated in the competition, which lasted about a month, to create visual content by submitting a video report that does not exceed a minute, according to the specific criteria that included the quality of the idea, body language, voiceover, and appropriate shooting angles.

The students who achieved the first three places will be honoured during the closing ceremony of the eleventh edition of the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF), which is organised by the International Government Communication Centre of the SGMB, on 28 and 29 September at the Expo Centre Sharjah, and the first winner of the competition will receive a prize in the amount of 5,000 dirhams, 3,000 dirhams for the second place, in addition to 2,000 dirhams for the third-place winner.

It is worth noting that the “Ithmar” programme has graduated more than 80 students over the past four editions, during which they acquired the most important media and journalistic skills, and the most prominent aspects of media education, with practical field visits, in cooperation with reputable media institutions and personalities with experience and competence in the sector.

Asma Al Juwaied, Manager of the Sharjah Press Club (SPC), stated that the participants in the competition presented distinguished examples for the training knowledge they obtained through video clips that were characterised by a diversity of content, pointing out that the competition enhances the creativity of students.

She stressed that the increase in demand to join the annual programme reflects the extent of the new generation's passion for media, especially with the availability of spaces for everyone to create media content on social media platforms, which reinforces the need to build the necessary skills for children and young people to provide meaningful content.

She indicated that in the fourth edition of the "Ithmar" programme, the club received 71 applications, compared to the third edition, in which it received 51, stressing the continuation of qualifying the young generation in the media and providing them with theoretical and applied knowledge that is in line with the standards of media and its variables.

The SPC organises many events and programmes that serve the press and media throughout the year.
