Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Ruler's Office in Kalba inaugurated on Thursday the activities of the 1st edition of the Wadi Al Helo Honey Festival, which is organised by the Municipality of Kalba City in cooperation with the people of the region.
The opening ceremony of the festival, which is held in the Heritage Village in Wadi Al Helo, was attended by His Excellency Dr. Sulaiman Sarhan Al Zaabi, Head of the Municipalities Department in Sharjah, a number of members of the Municipal Council of the city of Kalba, representatives of government departments and institutions, and a crowd of Wadi Al Helo residents.
Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr has highlighted the importance of the festival, stressing that it is a unique experience in the area, taking advantage of its geographical location, which is one of the honey-producing environments from ancient times.
He added, in statements to “Sharjah 24”, that the festival is an added value to the region in terms of economic and tourism, as it attracted in its first edition a good number of companies and honey producers. He also expressed that it will enhance the commercial and tourist boom of the Wadi Al Helo region.
Concluding his statement, Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi praised the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and His Highness's directives to intensify the cultivation of Sidr and Samar trees in the Wadi Al Helo region, which was reflected in the production of honey.
