SCCI organises world quality forum

SCCI showcases Emirati designers’ in Bangkok Jewelry Fair

Sharjah24: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) organized the World Quality Forum at the Chamber under the title "A continuous journey towards excellence" as part of its celebration of the World Quality Day, which is celebrated in November across the world.
The event expresses the Chamber's keenness to spread a culture of excellence and shows its staff and customers the importance of quality and how it is directly linked to institutional performance.

His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al-Awadi, Director-General of the Sharjah Chamber, stressed that organizing the forum is part of the Chamber’s celebration of quality and excellence that it is keen to implement and adopt in every aspect and across it departments by working incessantly and perseveringly to improve the efficiency of its services and spread the culture of quality and ingrain it in the business community.  

He indicated that quality and institutional excellence in the Emirate of Sharjah is a culture that stems from the vision and philosophy of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed AlQasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, who laid a firm foundation for an advanced work system, setting quality and excellence as primary objectives that government and private organizations work to achieve, and an exceptional methodology based on creativity, leadership and achieving realistic and tangible results and developments that aim to positively change the service of society.

Al-Awadi called on all the SCCI's staff to continue to improve performance and productivity, in order to preserve the gains and forward-look a future that is based on quality, innovation and excellence that contribute to the advancement of economic sectors in the Emirate of Sharjah, and enhancing the readiness and proactiveness in all domains, so that its journey towards excellence goes incessantly without any hurdles on the way ahead.

The celebration included a panel discussion entitled ‘Quality & Businesses Continuity’ and dealt with the concepts of quality, excellence and their tools, in addition to addressing the importance of the business continuity system. Maryam Ahmed Al Ali spotlighted in the SCCI's trek towards quality and excellence. She noted that the beginning was by signing an agreement with the European Quality Network in 1995 aimed at qualifying Sharjah factories for the ISO in order to meet exportation requirements. 

In 2002, the SCCI began to qualify its team for the ISO (Quality Management System 9001) which was obtained in 2003. In 2007, an organizational unit for quality was established within the SCCI's structure, and in 2011 a team of excellence ambassadors was launched from various units to disseminate the quality culture among SCCI's staff and members. The year 2012 saw the signing of an agreement with the European Foundation for Quality with the aim of using the European EFQM model. In 2016 the chamber adopted the integrated management system for quality, environment, health and occupational safety. And to keep pace with the developments and improve performance, the Chamber recently obtained the ISO 22301: 2019 Business Continuity Management System.
