Sharjah 24: The Health Promotion Department (HPD) at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA) in Sharjah, reviewed, in the roundtable meeting of the Global Alliance for Healthy Workplaces, the chief innovative programmes and projects as part of its endeavour to improve the workforce's quality of life and its key action plans and strategies that contribute to the adoption of best international health practices and standards in workplaces as well as the improvement of physical and mental health of employees.
The HPD's participation came during the meeting held on the sidelines of the 10th Global Healthy Workplace Summit, which was organised by the Global Center for Healthy Workplaces in the USA on 8th and 9th of November 2022. The HPD was represented by Shamsa Al-Abdouli, Director of the HPD's Community Support Division, who gave a presentation on Wazen programme's first and second phases and its chief achievements over the past years that witnessed the participation of 91 government and semi-government departments in Sharjah and targeted over 17,000 employees.

Iman Rashid Saif, Director of the Health Promotion Department emphasised the importance of the department’s participation in the meeting as it shows the HPD's keenness to reinforce international efforts towards improving the employees health and to cooperate with regional and global health organisations, with the aim of exchanging expertise and experiences and exploring the latest in creating work environments that interact with the foundations of healthy lifestyles. She also highlighted the importance of building a comprehensive and accessible database to support health trends at all levels in order to protect employees' health. Saif praised the fruitful outcomes of the meeting that addressed all mental health issues in workplaces and the setup of a global platform for integrating the participants' efforts at all levels towards promoting workforce wellness.

Shamsa Al Abdouli indicated during the meeting to key expected outcomes of the Wazen programme, which include creating the first database for work environment and health-related services in Sharjah government agencies and guaranteeing the provision of necessary culture and knowledge to create a supportive work environment for employees and develop integrated strategies to enhance work productivity.
