Sharjah 24: A press conference was held to announce the launch of the 41st edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), held from November 2-13, at Expo Centre Sharjah, under the theme ‘Spread the Word’ in the presence of Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA).
The SIBF is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
Speaking exclusively to “Sharjah 24”, Al Ameri stated that the exhibition in this edition is attended by 2,213 publishers from 95 different countries, including 1,298 Arab publishing houses and 918 foreign publishing houses, and among the most prominent participating countries are, the UAE 339 publishing houses, Egypt 306, Lebanon 125 and India 112, Syria 95, Jordan 94, Saudi Arabia 68, Britain 61, and Italy 30.
Al Ameri added that there are many countries participating for the first time, including Ireland, Iceland, Hungary, Malta, Mali, Liberia, Cuba, Costa Rica, Jamaica, and the Philippines.
