Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Calligraphy Forum's international symposium, "Arabic Calligraphy... Cities and History," ended at the House of Wisdom in the presence of Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of Cultural Affairs at the Department of Culture, Director of the Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial, and a number of artists, media professionals, and people interested in the growth of Arabic calligraphy in many countries.
At a symposium that is devoted to the study of Arabic calligraphy and its history in the Levant, Egypt, and Morocco, Bassam Diub discussed Damascene inscriptions, Dr. Mohammed Al Haddad discussed Arabic calligraphy in Egypt prior to the establishment of the Abbasid state in 750, and Dr. Mohammed Al Hasani discussed Fez calligraphy in Morocco and the role of the city of Fez in its development.

Al Qaseer gave the participants certificates of appreciation for what they had done for literature, intelligence, and the arts.
