Sharjah 24: During the activities of the Age Forum in its 11th edition, the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) honoured 5 senior citizens who won the "Green Heart Award" and 14 institutions that received the title of age-friendly institutions.
The Green Heart Award is the first of its kind dedicated to senior citizens, at the local and regional levels, and came in line with the initiatives of Sharjah, towards being an age-friendly city within the "community participation" axis, one of the eight axes of the criteria of the WHO Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities.
It includes four areas represented in the cultural, social, health and professional fields, and its goal is to engender the latent energies of senior citizens, and to invest their accumulated experiences in the service of the Emirate.
The age-friendly institution title came after the 14 institution met all the required conditions and criteria, during 29 entities applied to participate.
