Sharjah24 : The Arab Parliament for the Child (APC) , one of the institutions affiliated with the Arab League, participated in the work of the first edition of the Arab Climate Forum, which was held in Cairo for two days under the slogan "Together to Strengthen the Contribution of Civil Society to Climate Action".
The Arab Climate Forum was held in cooperation between the Egyptian Ministry of Environment, the Arab Gulf Program for Development "AGFUND", the League of Arab States, the Arab Network for NGOs, the Arab Council for Childhood and Development, and in the presence of the Arab Parliament for the Child and a number of agencies and organizations, as part of Egypt's preparations to host the Climate Summit COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh within a month next November.

The agenda of the Arab Climate Forum included six axes: climate change, sustainability, climate change and its impact on the most vulnerable groups such as children and women, encouraging innovation for the benefit of adaptation, mitigation, climate change and fragile economic activities, integrating citizens and local communities in climate action, and the role of systemic change in green transformation.

His Excellency Ayman Othman Al-Barout, Secretary-General of the Arab Parliament for the Child, stressed the importance of convening the forum and the importance of its themes and working papers in light of the keenness of the Arab Parliament for the Child to confirm its contribution to educating children about climate changes and environmental sustainability and the importance of working with all institutions, government agencies and international organizations to combat climate change and prepare generations for adaptation with climate changes.

Al-Barout explained, therefore, that the Arab Parliament responded to the child’s invitation to the forum to attend, participate and see the various working papers presented and the mechanisms of unifying joint efforts to achieve the goals that protect the environment and avoid the dangers that will confront us with climate change, with several working papers linked to climate change and the reflection of this as a threat to the rights of the child and the need for joint solidarity for the Arab child in the present and the future.
