Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) organised Tuesday, a forum with businessmen, investors and representatives of the private sector in the Emirate of Sharjah, titled "Back to Business" to inform them about the most prominent services and facilities provided by the Chamber and its affiliated institutions, in addition to reviewing the attractive investment advantages that the emirate enjoys.
The forum was attended by several officials, a number of members of the consular corps in the country and company managers.
Walid Abdul Rahman Bukhatir, Second Deputy Chairman of the Chamber’s Board of Directors stressed that the organisation of the forum emanates from the Chamber’s vision, mission and strategy, which put at the top of its priorities the interests of the business sectors in the Emirate of Sharjah in order to develop its economic activities, develop its investments and create a supportive and enabling environment for the growth and prosperity of the businesses of investors and affiliated members of the Chamber, through coordination, constructive cooperation, and joint work with government agencies and strategic partners to serve their interests.
Abdulaziz Shattaf, Assistant Director-General of the Communication and Business Sector stressed that the organisation of this forum stems from the Chamber’s keenness to enhance communication with the business community to closely view the reality of the various economic sectors in the emirate, and to consult on opportunities that allow them to grow, thrive and compete more in the local, regional and global markets.
Lamia Abdulrahman Al Jasmi, Senior Executive of National Industries Development, gave a detailed presentation on the service institutions operating under the umbrella of the Chamber, during which she reviewed the activities and services of the Sharjah Exports development centre and its strategy in exploring new markets for local companies and the quality of programmes and initiatives it provides to industrial companies in Sharjah, in addition to its participation in major international exhibitions accompanied by companies operating in the emirate, such as The Big Five and SIAL Middle East, in addition to trade missions to Uganda, Kenya and other countries of the world.
Al Jasmi pointed to the role of the Sharjah Expo Centre and the exhibitions it organises and hosts and the services and facilities it provides to exhibitors and visitors, and outlined the latest developments of the Sharjah Excellence Award and its categories and the objectives that the Chamber seeks to achieve through the award as part of its efforts to create the investment climate in the emirate, and enhance the competitive capabilities of the Emirati and Gulf business community, enabling them to benefit from the values of quality, leadership, and innovation.
Al Jasmi also reviewed the role of the sectoral working groups as a main partner of the Chamber in developing the private sector, advancing the economy of Sharjah and achieving the main objectives of the emirate's development plans. She also clarified the competencies of the Sharjah International Commercial Arbitration Centre in resolving commercial disputes from individuals, institutions, commercial and investment companies, participating and organising various activities such as conferences, workshops, discussion lectures, and providing legal advice and services.
