Sharjah 24: His Excellency Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, received in his office, on Wednesday, a delegation from the UAE Genome Team, headed by Dr. Ahmed Hassan Al Awadi, Director of the UAE Genome Programme, with the presence of top officials.
The visit aims to inform Sharjah Police of the best practices and applications in the government's treatment and preventive plans to create a disease-free Emirati society and improve health care provided to the citizens of the country.
At the beginning of the visit, His Excellency welcomed the visiting delegation, praising the pioneering position of the UAE Genome Project and its role in improving the quality of healthy life, developing mechanisms for anticipating genetic and chronic diseases and ways to prevent them, and harnessing them in treating current and future generations.
His Excellency stressed the keenness of the Sharjah Police to support all projects that contribute to supporting the preventive system in the UAE through the implementation of a number of qualitative programmes that have a significant and positive impact on society.
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Al Awadi expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Sharjah Police for its constant keenness to support these pioneering projects that serve the health of the citizen, and make it a top priority, and for its insightful vision for the future of upcoming generations.
At the end of the visit, His Excellency Al Shamsi presented the visiting delegation with a commemorative shield, looking forward to the continuation of the close cooperation between the two sides to enhance the country's position as a centre for research and innovation in the field of genomes.
