During the event
Sharjah 24: The Arabic Language Education Centre for the Gulf States (ALECGS) in Sharjah participated in the virtual seminar titled: “Literacy from the Perspective of Lifelong Learning in the World of Technology and Educational Transformation”, organised by the UNESCO Regional Office for Education in the Arab Countries, with the cooperation of the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning, in light of the International literacy Day.
The seminar, which was held through the Zoom platform, came to shed light on the developments that have taken place in the field of adult literacy and education in the Arab countries and to emphasise the role that information and communication technology plays in advancing adult literacy skills and ensuring comprehensive and equitable lifelong learning opportunities for all.

The seminar aimed to discuss the continuing challenges in the field of adult literacy and education in the Arab countries and to exchange updates on the progress made.

The participation of the ALECGS came within the sessions of the seminar titled: "Good Practices on Using Technology to Advance Literacy Skills and Provide Equitable Learning Opportunities."

His Excellency Dr. Issa Saleh Al Hammadi, Director of the Arabic Language Education Centre for the Gulf States (ALECGS) in Sharjah, presented a paper that included the efforts of Sharjah’s ALECGS in the field of teaching reading and employing modern technologies in its teaching.
