Sharjah 24: Dr Ali Obaid Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Kalba Parents Council, praised the "Learning is Light of Life" initiative and its potential to end elderly illiteracy, raise their level of consciousness, and provide them with plenty to do in their spare time.
He told “Sharjah 24” that the programme is run annually by the Sharjah Education Council and the Parents Council at the University of Sharjah in Kalba and involves about 60 senior women.
He noted the extensive interaction of women from all around the city, and he said that the senior students study Arabic, Islamic education, mathematics, and computer basics.
Al Zaabi lauded the results for the participants, some of whom are up to 80 years old, and noted that the educational process is carried out under the supervision of a group of experts and professionals.
