Sharjah24: Engineer Alia Al Rand, Director of Building Projects at Sharjah Directorate of Public Works (SDPW) , was presented with the LEED Silver Certificate at the departmental headquarters following the Sharjah Healthcare City (SHC) Building's receipt of the US Green Building Council's Silver Certificate for Building Design and New Building Construction System.
The 106,000 square foot structure was chosen for its eco-friendliness due to its 20% lower energy consumption, effective air conditioning, LED lighting, 50% lower water consumption, and inclusion of electric vehicle charging stations.

We understand the value of long-term sustainability, Rand said. Numerous environmental efforts are already in place. Our staff's diligence and effort greatly contributed to the achievement of this certification.

The achievement of this designation, she continued, "shows the UAE's efforts to foster an atmosphere that encourages the public and private sectors to continue developing projects that support sustainability."
