Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) held an introductory meeting on the "Green Heart Award" launched by the Sharjah Age Friendly Office, in its first edition, via the virtual platform “Zoom”.
The importance of the meeting, which is the second, is in targeting all senior citizens at the level of the Emirate of Sharjah in order to raise their awareness on how to participate and inform them of all the details of participation.
The Green Heart Award is intended for senior citizens, focusing cultural, social, health and professional fields, which will engender those latent energies of senior citizens and invest their accumulated experiences in the service of the Emirate and society.
Asma Al Khodari, Director of the Sharjah Age Friendly Office, confirmed that the award aims to appreciate senior citizens for their efforts in various activities. It also includes goals to spread the culture of green heart practices and active aging, and to highlight successful models of the elderly in the Emirate's society.
She added that the award categories that a senior citizen can participate in are the active elderly category, which is the age group between 60 and 79 years old, as well as the advanced elderly category for the age group of 80 years and above.
She noted that the participants must be residents in Sharjah, and that they must hold valid official papers, in addition to passing the personal interview. They also must submits recent work that does not exceed one year from the start of the course, and the nomination file during the announced application period.
