Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) announced the adjustment of the taxi meter tariff, starting from July 2022, in line with the authority's keenness to improve services provided to users of taxis and intercity buses, and in implementation of the authority's strategy aimed at providing the best services in the transport sector and promoting the use of mass transportation.
The adjustment comes in line with the current economic changes after the liberalisation of the price of fuel.
Eng. Yousef Khamis Mohammed Al Othmani, Chairman of the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA), said that the adjustment came in accordance with the mechanism for calculating taxi fares, based on liberalised fuel prices, adding that the rate of increase or decrease in fare will be limited to the rise or fall in fuel prices as approved by the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.
He continued that the SRTA will set the tariff pricing policy and follow up its implementation to serve the segment of taxi users, explaining the that the amendment of the tariff comes within the framework of the SRTA’s efforts to improve the quality of service provided to passengers, and keep pace with the development witnessed by the transport sector and the emirate’s future development plans.
