Sharjah24: The Department of Civil Aviation in Sharjah held a meeting with representatives of travel and tourism agencies in the emirate, with the aim of facilitating procedures for them and promoting their business, in addition to creating an attractive environment for new investors in the travel sector due to its direct positive repercussions on tourism and Sharjah International Airport.
The meeting, which was held in the building of the Department of Civil Aviation and the Sharjah Airport Authority, was chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Essam Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department, in the presence of a number of directors of departments in the department and representatives of travel and tourism agencies in the emirate.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Essam Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation in Sharjah, welcomed the attendees, stressing that it was based on the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to enhance the emirate’s position on the global stage as a distinguished destination for tourism and business. 

The travel and tourism sector is one of the important sectors, in light of the growth in the Emirate of Sharjah in the number of travelers and hotel guests, as Sharjah Airport received more than 3 million passengers from January to the end of last March, compared to 1.3 million passengers in the same period of the year. 2021, an increase of 119.2%. The number of hotel establishment guests in the Emirate of Sharjah during the first quarter of this year reached more than 350 thousand, with a growth rate of 26% compared to the same period last year 2021.
