Intense competition in Sharjah Hangzhou 2022

Sharjah24: The Sharjah 2022 Asian Paralympic Games "Hangzhou" were held in the Al Thiqah Club for the Disabled on Thursday, May 26, 2022, in the presence of Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler's Office, Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Digital Office, and a group of officials in the fields of sports and human services.
Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, Sharjah Sports Council, International Taekwon-Do Federation, UAE Paralympic Committee, Emirates Taekwon-Do Federation, Al-Thiqa Club for the Disabled, and Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club organised the tournament. The competition featured 45 male and female athletes with disabilities who represented teams from 12 Asian nations.

Sharjah's efforts and development initiatives stemming from His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, are represented in empowering people through the emirate's leading institutions, at the forefront of which is the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services," Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi said.

He added that the tournament represents an opportunity for participants from various Asian countries to meet and compete and positively impact sports, social, health, and personal competition and achieve great goals supported and supervised by Sheikha Jamila bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, President of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the tournament.

Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi remarked, "Sharjah has always been a pioneer in paying attention to sports for individuals with disabilities and showcasing the sportsmanship and dedication of the players."

According to Mona Abdul Karim Al Yafei, Director of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, the unlimited support provided by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi to people with disabilities in all fields, including "sports," is a solid foundation in the advanced position that has been achieved locally and globally.

She also praised how well the tournament was organized around the world and remarked said that Sheikha Jamila bint Muhammad Al Qasimi's careful attention to every detail was the key to its success.

The Vice President of Para Taekwondo at the World Taekwondo Federation, thanked Sheikha Jamila bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, President of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, Chairman of the tournament's Higher Organizing Committee, Member of the International Taekwondo Federation Council, and the hardworking and loyal team who contributed greatly to the tournament's success, wishing everyone good luck and progress.

At the conclusion of the event, the champions and teams were all honoured.
