Sharjah24: Speakers at a panel discussion organised by the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, as part of its participation in the 31st edition of the Abu Dhabi Book Fair, valued the attention paid by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah for the Protection of the Arabic Language, stressing that his support the great is embodied in Arabic Historical Dictionary project.
The symposium, which was held at the youth platform of the exhibition, came under the title "The Role of the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language in Documenting the Evolution of Terminology through the Ages and Migratory Words", and was attended by Dr. Muhammad Safi Al Mosteghanemi, Secretary General of Arabic Language Academy (ALA) in Sharjah, and Executive Director of the Arabic Historical Dictionary.
Dr. Muhammad Safi Al Mosteghanemi began his participation in the symposium, noting that the rationale for working in the historical dictionary of the Arabic language distinguishes it from other ancient dictionaries; Because it chronicles the words of the Arabic language and the context in which their meanings developed in different eras, to include 18 centuries.
As for Dr. Ghassan Al-Sheikh, in his participation, he touched upon the unique characteristics of the dictionary that enhance its scientific and cognitive importance, most notably the temporal extension covered by the dictionary to include Arabic words in the pre-Islamic stage by 400 years.
