Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) is participating in more than 50 activities and programmes in the 13th edition of "Sharjah Children's Reading Festival" (SCRF), organised from 11 to 22 May, by the Sharjah Book Authority at the Expo Centre Sharjah under the theme “Create Creativity”, whereas 139 publishing houses from 15 Arab and foreign countries participate, and more than 1900 events are organised that combine theatre with creative workshops, artistic performances and panel discussions.
SSSD was keen to participate in SCRF activities for six years, represented in the Department of Social Education, as it is an important event in the Emirate of Sharjah on the one hand, and affects the child, family and society as a whole on the other hand.
Maryam Al Qaseer, Director of the Social Education Department in SSSD, said that the participating in the festival aims to gather all family members, and to provide them with lectures and workshops on social and family education, through targeted programmes, competitions, games and motivational gifts.
Al Qaseer added that a special platform has been allocated for programmes in Hall 5, Corner 19, where SSSD participation will be in two shifts, morning and evening, through which the Department will spread the knowledge of school students and promote the culture of instilling societal values.
On the other hand, the Director of the Social Education Department clarified that the department’s publications will be distributed during the festival period in three languages, Arabic, English and Urdu, whereas the exhibition attracts visitors of different nationalities.
