Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) revealed details of the updates of major tourism projects in the Emirate of Sharjah, and its future plans, as part of its participation in the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2022, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre and will continue until May 12.
ATM 2022 aims to shed light on the future of the travel and tourism industry worldwide, and ways to address current challenges and take advantage of available opportunities.
This came during a press conference organised by the authority on the second day of the exhibition on the "Sharjah Pavilion", in the presence of His Excellency Khalid Jasem Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), and Her Excellency Hana Saif Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah.
The event witnessed also the presence of His Excellency Ali Salem Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah International Airport Authority, Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, Acting CEO of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), along with a number of officials and representatives of government entities and local and international media.
His Excellency Khalid Al Midfa said that the authority, based on the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, strives to enhance the Emirate’s position on the global tourism map as a prominent family tourist destination.
His Excellency added that SCTDA is working continuously with its strategic partners from the government and private sectors to design projects and initiatives that provide exceptional, diverse, and innovative tourism experiences for tourists from all over the world.
His Excellency highlighted that thanks to the continuous support of the wise leadership, the Emirate has witnessed, in recent years, a qualitative leap in its major development projects for the tourism sector, and in all its cities, including major infrastructure development projects in various parts and cities of the Emirate of Sharjah.
His Excellency stressed that the strategic location of the Emirate of Sharjah constitutes a great-added tourism value, effectively contributing to the development of the tourism sector and achieving its diversity, given the diverse experiences it provides that meet different interests and age groups.
His Excellency maintained that the Emirate is characterised by world-class tourism potentials and capabilities, and its annual agenda is rich in many events, exhibitions, and major festivals, which collectively meet the requirements and aspirations of visitors of different categories.
