Sharjah 24: The 13th edition of Sharjah Children's Reading Festival (SCRF) receives special coverage from the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA), which believes in the value of the media message and its profound impact on charting new paths for the future of the Emirate of Sharjah, celebrating the achievements of the Emirate's development experience, and presenting it as a pioneering model to the region and the world.
The 13th Sharjah Children's Reading Festival activities are being aired live on Sharjah TV, which is managed by the SBA.
Sharjah TV has allocated a programme for the youngsters titled "Our Children and Books," which will run from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on festival days. The "Amasi" programming seeks to promote the festival's educational and leisure programmes, which attract people of all ages.
The authority provides special coverage of the festival and hosts a group of intellectuals and the most prominent names in the world of literature, Emirati, Arab, and foreign writers, and artists participating in the festival through the news centre's "Akhbar Al-Dar," which is shown daily on Sharjah TV.
The morning programme "Diary of Al Wusta" from Al Dhaid follows the festival's activities as part of a special coverage; Radio Sharjah participates in transmitting the festival's events through the "Studio 94" programme; and Radio Plus 95 presents a live programme entitled "Eyes on the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival." The Holy Quran Radio from Sharjah also covers the festival in the morning and evening.
Rashid Abdullah Al Obed, Director of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA), stated in his comment on the authority's participation in the SCRF that the media presence of Sharjah channels and radio stations represents a translation of the authority's mission to be the Emirate's mirror to the world, reflecting the cultural scene and Sharjah's knowledge and creative presence at the local and global levels.
The festival is one of the largest cultural gatherings that embraces children and instils knowledge and a love of reading in them, and establishes the value of the book as a major source of knowledge, and an essential element in shaping the Emirate of Sharjah's civilised and cultural project under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
