"Ruwad" distributes 5700 iftar meals in Sharjah

Sharjah 24: Sharjah SME Ruwad of the Department of Economic Development in Sharjah revealed the success of the Ramadan initiative organised in cooperation with the Sharjah Charity International to distribute 5700 iftar meals throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
His Excellency Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Director of the Foundation, said that the initiative is being organised for the third year, as it was launched for the first time in 2018 in conjunction with the Year of Zayed and then organised in 2019.  The initiative was resumed this year after recovering from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and the return of business and economic activities and lift of precautionary measures and restrictions.

His Excellency Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud pointed out that the initiative aims to involve the Ruwad employees and members who are owners of pioneering projects, in the food and restaurant sector, in this Ramadan initiative, which carries many humanitarian, charitable and social dimensions, and is in line with the Ruwad values of participation, responsibility and community service.

Ruwad Director explained that the third edition of the initiative had the support and contribution of 7 projects of Ruwad providing meals for fasting people, which are Dar Tikka Restaurant, Larobe Restaurant, Dar Al Rowa Restaurant, Kharoof Al Chef Restaurant, Mara Lounge Restaurant, Akl Al Dar Kitchen, Al-Riyadah for food catering services, and a number of philanthropists. Meals were distributed in three locations, namely the Sharjah Airport Free Zone, Al Falah Mosque in Muwailih, with the participation of the Foundation’s employees and their children, and the Foundation’s Director. 

Mr. Wadih Yahya, Director of Excellence and Strategic Planning, and Muhammad Al Manaei, Director of Aid Department from the Sharjah Charity International participated in the the distribution of Iftar meals. The Foundation’s employees also participated in distributing meals in the third location, which is the Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal Mosque in Al Jazzat area.

Al Mahmoud stated that the three cycles of the initiative saw the distribution of 22600 meals, with the participation of 17 Foundation’s projects, which confirms the initiative’s success in strengthening the social responsibility of these pioneering national projects and their participation in drawing joy and happiness for fasting people during the holy month of Ramadan.
