Sharjah 24: In presence of His Excellency Brigadier General Ahmed Abdelaziz Shuhail, Director of the Punishment and Correctional Institition Department at the Sharjah Police, the department concluded the programmes it had implemented for the inmates during the holy month of Ramadan.
This comes with the aim of strengthening reform and rehabilitation programmes, and achieving quality of life for inmates by bringing joy and hope into their souls.
Colonel Mona Sorour Al Shuwaihi, Deputy Director of the Punishment and Correctional Institution Department, said that in addition to entertainment, sports, cultural and religious activities, the Ramadan programme that was developed included organising the Ramadan inmates’ tent programme, which included workshops on achieving the quality of life for inmates, and a positive approach towards facing difficulties and challenges. In addition to a number of lectures on the virtues of fasting and urging adherence to morals and good values.
The programme also organising a number of seminars that enable inmates to adopt positive ideas and face life after their leaving the department.
Colonel Al Shuwaihi indicated that, in conjunction with Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, which coincides with the 19th of Ramadan, a group iftar was organised in the Ramadan tent under the slogan (Ramadan brings us together), in which 20 guests, recently converted to Islam and non-Muslims wishing to learn about the Islam attended.
In a humanitarian gesture, an inmate family was reunited with relatives after a long estrangement, emphasising the basic principles of the punitive and correctional institutions in the United Arab Emirates dealing with inmates, based on respecting the human rights of the inmate, providing their various needs in accordance with the system established by the Ministry of Interior.
