Sharjah 24: A scientific and historical reference, containing rare treasures, collected by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, over decades, making Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre, a safe haven for researchers and specialists, and to be the jewel in the crown of the University City in Sharjah.
Throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan, "Sharjah 24" takes you on a historical tour of Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre halls, revealing Al Qasimi Centre's precious holdings in nine episodes on Sundays and Wednesdays.
The second episode reviewed the gilded cup located in the hall of "English Operations against Al Qawasim" of the centre. This cup was presented to Captain "John Gover", commander of the ship "Glenelg" and its officers, as a reminder of friendship and appreciation from Lt. Colonel "Milnes" of the 65th Regiment, during the military campaign in the Gulf and Persia in 1819-1820. This has led to the fall of Ras Al Khaimah and the founding of the Trucial Sheikhdoms under British protection, which in 1971 would become the United Arab Emirates.
