BFA launches "Breastfeeding counsellors" prog in Ara,Eng

Sharjah24: The Breastfeeding Friends Association (BFA), one of the health support associations affiliated to the Health promotion Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, launched the sixteenth session of the “Breastfeeding counsellors” program, with the participation of 24 trainees of working mothers, housewives and those who are interested in breastfeeding of various nationalities, from inside and outside the United Arab Emirates, and the program lasted for 12 days, where the program was held “remotely” through Webex Meeting program.
The program, which is offered in both Arabic and English, aims to familiarize the trainees with the benefits and importance of breastfeeding, and to understand the needs of the new born, the components of mother's milk, its advantages and its importance to the health of the child, It also seeks to introduce the obstacles that a breastfeeding mother may face and how to overcome them, the various risks of formula milk, methods of breastfeeding and the keys to its success, in addition to many different tips for a nursing mother to protect her from Covid 19 and in the event that the mother is infected with the disease and some instructions to continue breastfeeding without transmitting infection to her child the infant..

Engineer Khawla Abdel Aziz Al Noman, President of the Breastfeeding Friends Association, welcomed the participants in the program, expressing the association’s pride in them as new members and candidates for pioneering volunteer missions, and praising the role they will play after graduating from the program, as they will become ambassadors for the association, which will greatly contribute to achieving its goals. with aspire to spread the culture of breastfeeding in the wider society, and Providing all possible means of support to give advices and guidance to mothers and help them adhere to it for the benefit of the health of their children and the safety of their community, This is in order to achieve the visions and directives of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, President of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, in promoting Sharjah’s position as a healthy and friendly city for children and young people, as well as the rest of 
the Emirates, to reach a healthy and happy society.

She pointed out that the Breastfeeding Friends Association focuses, through its annual programs and initiatives, on the awareness, educational and training aspects together to introduce the benefits of breastfeeding and its importance from the religious and psychological sides, and to enhance the culture of mothers with its multiple benefits, which help improve the general and psychological health of the mother, reduce weight after childbirth, reduce bone weakness and the incidence of uterine and breast cancer, It also works to strengthen the child’s immunity, provide him with appropriate food, especially the brain, protect them from ear and respiratory infections, reduce allergies, and strengthen mental ability and intelligence, moreover to reduce the incidence of obesity and obesity in the future, she called on the trainees to benefit from the program and to have a useful and purposeful experience in volunteering with the association. called on the trainees to benefit from the program and to have their volu

Elite of experts
The Breastfeeding Counsellors Program is presented by a group of specialized experts from the medical staff working in the various health centers and hospitals in the Emirates, in addition to a group of volunteer guides and consultants in the association, and health promotion from the Health Education Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs. The implementation of the program is supervised by female employees. and volunteers of the association.

Over the past 16 years, the Breastfeeding Counsellors Program has succeeded in training more than 224 female counsellors, as it is keen to graduate experienced counsellors in all ways aimed at motivating mothers to breastfeed, moreover to introducing them to the healthy and safe methods of suctioning and storing natural milk, in addition to introducing the many services provided by the association to its affiliates, family and society in the Emirate of Sharjah,The Breastfeeding Friends Association is a voluntary, non-profit association that has been working under the umbrella of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs since 2004, knowing that it was founded in 1999 by a group of breastfeeding advocates.The association was announced by the Ministry of Community Development under Ministerial Resolution No. (56) for the year 2021. It enjoys the generous patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and President of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah.
