Sharjah24: UAE club players won 35 coloured medals, 5 gold, 12 silver, and 18 bronze, on the 2nd day of the 10th Sharjah International Athletics Forum for the Disabled (SIAFD), sponsoured by Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, on the stadiums of Al Thiqa Club for Handicapped.
The Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled won 2 gold, 4 silver, and 4 bronze medals, Al Ain Club for people of determination won a gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Al Thiqa Club for Handicapped won one gold, one silver, and four bronze medals.
The Dubai Club for People of Determination also won two silver and five bronze medals, and Ajman Club for the Disabled won a bronze medal.
Dr. Abdul Razzaq Bani Rashid, President of the Paralympic Federation for West Asia extended his congratulations to the Emirati champions with disabilities for their distinguished sporting achievements in this tournament, raising UAE flag in all local, international and continental forums.
He pointed out that this tournament is part of the implementation of the goals of the UAE vision, which supports the integration of people of determination into society; encouraging them to live their normal life.
Dr. Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City (Shams) also confirmed that Sharjah Media City's sponsorship of the event stems from the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on the need to take care of people with disabilities in all fields. He added that the success that the forum’s achieved success, and the participation of this large number of world champions, comes as a result of the good reputation that the UAE enjoys in the field of hosting and organising sporting events.
The Emirati champion, Thoraya Al Zaabi, expressed her happiness for winning the gold medal on the second day of the tournament, lauding the unlimited support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in ensuring the support to the people of determination in all sports competitions, whether local, international or continental.
