Sharjah 24: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the activities of Al Wusta channel from Al Dhaid Second Camel Festival, organised by Sharjah Broadcast Authoriy will be held on the 12th and 13th of March on Al Dhaid Camel Race Course.
The festival organises 52 open runs for those wishing to participate from all parts of the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf countries.
A a press conference was held, on Monday, at the channel’s headquarters in Al Dhaid, in the presence of Saeed Rashid bin Fadel Al Ketbi, Director of Al Wusta Channel from Al Dhaid, Matar Ali bin Howaiden, Chairman of the Sharjah Camel Racing Club, and Obaid bin Hamed Al Tunaiji, Coordinator The festival, and a number of heads and directors of government institutions.
Saeed Rashid bin Fadel Al Ketbi, Director of Al Wusta from Al Dhaid, confirmed that the festival has become an annual tradition that aims to preserve the cultural heritage of the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE as a whole, and to preserve the popular heritage that Emiratis are still proud of.
Matar Ali bin Howiden, Chairman of the Sharjah Camel Racing Club, extended his thanks His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah for honouring Al Wusta Channel from Al Dhaid to be a media beacon for the people of Al Dhaid, and for his support to sports or other developmental fields.
Matar Ali bin Howiden valued the efforts of Al Wusta Channel from Al Dhaid in reviving the heritage, organising the festival and honouring its guests from inside and outside the Emirates.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Camel Racing Club wished success to all the participants and stressed the interest of the festival management to allocate runs for camel owners from the people of the region to enable them to participate.
Obaid bin Hamed Al Tunaiji, the festival coordinator, reviewed the ongoing organisational preparations for the launch of Al Wusta from Al Dhaid Festival for camels, and referred to the cooperation between Al Dhaid Camel Race Course and the channel for the success of the festival and the happiness of enthusiasts from inside and outside the UAE.
Al Tunaiji revealed the festival prizes, whereas each winner will receive a cash prize of 20 thousand dirhams.
It is noteworthy that the festival was launched under the directives of His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, following His Highness’s opening of Al Wusta Channel from Al Dhaid in February 2020, where its first session, held on February 28 and 29, 2020, saw the organisation of 60 open runs, including 8 main runs, which were monitored with valuable financial prizes.
