Sharjah24: The Department of Electricity Services at the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA), under the directives of His Excellency Saeed Al Suwaidi, Chairman of SEWA, launched a campaign to remove random posters and advertisements that distort the aesthetic and the civilised view of different sides of the Authority’s facilities.
The initiative comes as part of SEWA’s keenness to maintain the aesthetic view and as a step toward decreasing visual pollution, as well as spreading awareness among society’s members.
Commenting on this, Dr. Eng. Hassan Al-Zarouni, Director of the Electricity Services Department, explained that the campaign launched by the Authority includes various facilities that belong to the Authority, adding that continuous inspection tours will be organised throughout the year to remove advertisements and posters that are considered as major sources of visual pollution. He has further underscored the dangers of such acts, stressing that deterrent measures will be taken against violators.
Engineer Abdulrahman Karam, Director of Electricity Emergency, added that the Authority seeks to reduce these negative behaviours by listing the names of violating institutions and individuals, with the application of disciplinary measures to reduce these bad behaviours.
He called on the authorities, institutions and individuals to commit not to place advertisements on the Authority's properties indiscriminately, and called on all citizens and residents to report any violations through the interactive channels provided by the Authority on the website sewa.gov.ae, or through the 991 call center.
