Sharjah24: The Khorfakkan Amphitheatre is set to host legendary Saudi singer Mohammed Abdu, known as ‘Fanan Al Arab’ (the Artist of Arabs) on Saturday, March 12 as part of the ongoing “Lets Khorfakkan” music season.
Performing for the first time in Khorfakkan, the region’s newest cultural and entertainment hub, Abdu is looking forward to treat his Emirati audience to some of his choicest songs and the best of authentic Khaleeji (Gulf) music. Abdu is wildly popular across the Arabian Gulf and beyond and his songs resonate with both the old and new generations.

The ongoing “Lets Khorfakkan” season is part of the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre management’s efforts to put the Roman colosseum style facility and Khorfakkan on the regional map of classical and contemporary arts.

The Mohammed Abdu concert promises to be yet another memorable cultural and entertainment evening hosted by the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre, which has held a number of sold-out concerts by the leading Arab and Gulf artists and singers over the past few weeks.
  
Music lovers once again get to enjoy the best of authentic Khaleeji music, beauty of Arabic poetry and melodies in an extraordinary setting overlooking the beautiful coastal city of Khorfakkan.  

Mohammed Abdu is a widely respected name in the Khaleeji music that is known as much for its rich voice and distinctive melodies. He has contributed exponentially to the growth of the Saudi and Khaleeji music throughout the Arab world. 

Abdu is also known for singing and performing the verses of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and "Ya Marhaban Ya maana" and "Rimyat Al-Hadif" among others. He has collaborated with some of the leading Arab poets, including Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal, with whom he collaborated in a masterpiece of his composition "Hala Yabo Shaer Thayer".

His masterpiece, "Abaad," helped Abdu emerge as an international star in the 70’s. His collaboration with the poet Faiq Abdul Jalil and Youssef Al-Muhanna produced an artwork that was later translated and performed by an Indian singer, who sang it with the same melody. Arab and Western bands in Greece, Turkey and a number of European countries have also performed their own version of the song "Abaad.” Abdu also came up with the epic song “Fi Aman Allah,” collaborating with Prince Badr bin Abdul Mohsen.

Abdu has enriched the Saudi and Arab art scene with works such as "Soutak Yenadini" and "Laylat Khamees". The new generation got attraced to him thanks to songs such as “Al Amaken", "Muzhilah" and "Al-Qarar", and others. The Mohammed Abdu concert as part of the "Lets Khorfakkan” season is expected to be yet another sold-out show attracting an audience of all age groups.
