Sharjah24: The General Command of Sharjah Police, represented by the Sports and Social Activities Department of the Department of Media and Public Relations, organised on Thursday the mountain hiking competition, in the village of Najd Al-Maqsar in Khorfakkan, with the participation of His Excellency Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, and his deputy, Brigadier Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, general managers and their deputies, directors of departments and representatives, and a number of members of 10 teams from different departments.
The mountain walk competition came as a continuation of the occasion of the "Fifty Sports", which was launched to coincide with the country's celebrations of its golden jubilee.
The hiking competition began in "Najd Al-Maqsar Village" with adventures for different tours interspersed with cultural questions through the "barcode" scanner technology that enables teams to earn points to cross to the next stages.
Major General Saif Al Shamsi confirmed the citizens’ keenness to organise sports events by choosing the right place, as the environment in the middle of the landscape contributes to creating an unforgettable memory for the individual, as government agencies in the Emirate of Sharjah support the tourism development process, in line with the visions and aspirations of the leadership in making the Emirate of Sharjah a leading global tourist destination.
At the Rafisa Dam, Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi won the first three teams, starting with the Eastern Region Police Department team, for getting first place, and the Academy of Police Sciences as the secound place , while the General Department of Resources and Support Services team came in third place.
