Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Football Club Company (SFCC), headed by His Excellency Abdullah Mohammed Al Ajla, and in coordination with the Department of Health Affairs and Sports Medicine at Sharjah Sports Club, has concluded the procedures for contracting with the Italian Dr. Alfonso De Nicola, the former doctor of Napoli Club.
Dr. Alfonso expressed his happiness to work with Sharjah Sports Club, noting that he received many encouraging messages when he was offered to work with the club, the most prominent of which was from the captain of the Italian national team Fabio Cannavaro, who strongly encouraged him to join the club. Dr. Alfonso stressed the high professional spirit that characterises the Emirati clubs in general and the Sharjah Sports Club in particular.
The professor of sports medicine at the University of Naples arrived to the UAE to complete the signing procedures after successful negotiations with the club, and upon his arrival he signed a contract until June 2023, during which he will work as the Director of the Sports Medicine Department at Sharjah Football Club Company and a supervisor of the club’s medical staff.
Dr. De Nicola had a long career whereas he worked in the Italian Bari Club before moving to Naples, and headed the club’s medical department for many years. Dr. De Nicola also worked as a lecturer and professor of medicine in many Italian universities, the last of which was the University of Naples, and he worked with several international trainers, most notably Roberto Donadoni, Maurizio Sarri, Rafael Benitez and finally with Carlo Ancelotti.
