The programme entailed 130 individuals from 21 families being escorted on recreational and educational excursions across the Emirate of Sharjah. Families were introduced to the Khor Kalba Mangrove Centre, Wasit Wetland Centre, Al Buhais Geological Park, and Al Muntather Reserve as part of the programme.
Ending with a successful programme that educated various groups of society about the importance of nature reserves and its affiliated centres in the Emirate of Sharjah, encouraged a culture of sustainable ecotourism, and highlighted reserves and environmental landmarks in Sharjah.
The Authority's teams hosted events, educational seminars, contests, and indoor and outdoor tours for the families at each of the participating reserves and centres.
The Al Muntather Reserve Family Forestry Initiative also educated participants on the value of indigenous perennials and non-perennials, as well as their protection.
The programme began with a greeting to families, then grouping them and assigning them guides. Before participating in educational workshops and contests, groups had guided tours of each place to learn about its distinct features and biodiversity.
The EPAA works to conserve the environment, natural reserves, animals, and biodiversity. The Authority distributes educational materials, executes environmental policies and initiatives, and organizes environmental awareness campaigns.
