This year’s edition running under the theme ‘Polar Ice’, offers visitors free Arctic Circle theme entertainment shows including life-size models of arctic animals.
The water extravaganza will focus on ice melt that leads to sea-level rise due to global warming and its devastating effects on the coastal areas of the Arabian Gulf.
It will also bring attention to the significance of reducing global CO2 emissions and the adoption of renewable energy sources.
During the five-day marine life festival which takes place at the Sharjah Aquarium, families and visitors will enjoy live performances such as “Finding the Lost Penguin”, workshops, puzzles, fish feeding, competitions, and children’s play areas.
Visitors will be able to assess the risks that face sea creatures during several workshops by Sharjah Maritime Museum and Sharjah Science Museum.
Departments taking part in the free event such as the Ministry Of Climate Change and Environment and the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah will present several interactive learning experiences including video and theater shows.
Sharjah Museums Authority hopes visitors will take away an important conservation message from the event about how they can contribute to preserving marine ecosystems.
Sharjah Aquarium Carnival will run until March 7, and is open from 5:00pm -10pm.
