Sharjah 24: Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) celebrated the conclusion of the volleyball training camp, organised in cooperation with the US Consulate in the UAE from December 17 to 21. The camp achieved great success thanks to the quality of the theoretical materials and practical exercises provided by the team of lecturers consisting of expert John Kessel and coaches Danielle Scott, Elissa Andreno, Kathleen Charles and Kayla Jeter, especially with the participation of 150 coaches and 480 players from Sharjah clubs, where the halls of Mleiha Club and Sharjah Women's Sports Foundation received the camp.
The closing ceremony was attended by Megan Gregones, Consul General of the United States of America in Dubai, Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, Mohammed Sultan Al Khasouni, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mleiha Club, and Mr. Mohammed Obaid Al Hussan, Head of the Team Games Department at the Sports and Development Affairs Department, and a number of volleyball experts and SSC employees.

Issa Hilal Al Hazami expressed his happiness with the success of the camp, and thanked the volleyball team in the Sports and Development Affairs Department, as well as the administrations of Mleiha Club and the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation for hosting the event.

Issa Hilal Al Hazami said that development is a sustainable process for technical staff and players at various stages. He added that development of teams fulfills the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Women’s Sports, with regard to raising the local level towards the international representation at the global level.

Issa Hilal Al Hazami added that the programme has been developed to include different games, whereas two camps have been completed, in basketball and volleyball.  He added that the next stop will be the handball camp.

Issa Hilal Al Hazami stressed that the council is keen to bring in the best experts and use the best training schools in each game, and that the work was done to include the technical staff and players at the same time, as it would speed up the development process and ensure success, given that all actors are responsible for the development process.
